State Fair

We took advantage of the hubby's new work schedule and went to the fair on Monday afternoon.

This ride gets the weird award from me. It's supposed to be a barn being spun by a tornado. Hubby described it as morbid.
Well, you can see lots of different things at the fair :)

Unlimited ice cream makes us happy! Look at those cheeks!!!!

A boy won this prize for baby girl
(well her brother won it and let her borrow it . . . )

Daddy and Handsome had lots of fun on the rides. As I get older the rides make me pretty sick. Baby girl and I looked at the animals and I attempted to look at the entries, but baby girl screams when she gets bored :{

Winning the crayon

We ended the day with the carousel and let baby girl ride. She loved it!

So happy she can't keep her eyes open!

Lots of fun makes us sleepy.

Yay for Labor

Labor Day that is :)
The pictures are in reverse chronological order, fyi.
One of the things on the agenda was the boys hiking Long's Peak.
Here is my brother in law on the summit holding a picture of Aleah. What a wonderful dad he is!

My man on top of the world

While the boys were hiking my sister in law and I went on an unsuccessful shopping run, but I enjoyed her company. This trip was definitely full of many of the people who bless my life.

We also took the kids to the park where they rode on the train with Nana.

Handsome wanted to ride in the cattle car which made pictures a little difficult, but he liked it.

Peggy hosted a get together for us which was perfect. Thank you again Peggy for your thoughtfulness and generosity!
We didn't get very many pictures because we were having too much fun, but here is some proof we were there :)

I also need to thank Erica for letting us bunk. Staying with you made my heart happy; it was truly picking up like no time has passed.

Now for a little teaser. Nana got us all ready for Halloween and thankfully we get to see her again next week for Lake Powell :)

She is is seriously adorable! (But you will have to wait to see her from the front, mwah ha ha!)

Past and present

I wanted to post proof of my previous life in college.
When we went to the game last week I had fun reminiscing about the good ol' days.

Fiesta Bowl

I'm somewhere on the field :)

After the Fiesta Bowl, my last game.
It kind of feels like a long time ago and sometimes I miss it, but other times I don't :) I do have to say that their new uniforms are nicer than these.

Wildflowers

The wildflowers at Alta this year were late this year which has been nice for us. We have been up a couple of times to escape the heat and busy-ness of the city. I love being back close to the mountains.

Blogger's block

I have felt like I need to blog lately, but haven't known what to write about. So here are some pictures and maybe just starting will get the juices flowing.

Here is my boy on the first day of school. I cried a little bit when he got out of the car by himself and walked up like he didn't need his mommy any more :(
To answer your question, no he is not in kindergarten this year. I decided the best thing for him is to be the oldest. We are going to have fun with some different kinds of learning (about planets, animals, the earth, etc) rather than too much academics so he won't be too far ahead.

I am posting these zoo pictures because I am focusing on the positive. Handsome asked me a couple of weeks ago what we had planned for the following day. We had nothing so he asked if we could go to the zoo. Unfortunately my first impulse was to say no, but I said yes instead and we had a fun time. Picture proof that I am striving to be a better mom-
(Handsome is helping Little Miss pose . . . )

My little archaeologist

Little Miss woke up early one morning so I was grumpy. I looked out our balcony and saw this beautiful sunrise. It seemed like a small sign to me that I needed to see beauty and not be grumpy.

Little Miss falls asleep in some interesting positions-
