Bikes, friends and walking

The ward put on a bike parade for the kids with cool cars, balloon swords and snow cones.

This is my dear friend who I met in 3rd grade. She was visiting from Virginia. So many memories all through grade school and college. Thanks to her marrying her husband I got to meet my wonderful husband. Love you dear! It was so nice to see you!

We also got to have dinner with the P family at In-n-Out. We got a picture with the kids who picked up right where they left off. I am missing all my Colorado friends terribly. This will tide me over until September.

Here is baby girl doing her grown up walking thing!

Today's rainstorm

We had a crazy rainstorm for about an hour this afternoon. This is one of the streets that our complex parking lot exits onto.

Alta

We went for a little hike up to Alta. It was crazy to see so much snow so late in the year. Places were still quite muddy, but the beautiful green made up for it.

Iron Man had fun poking the snow.

We did a little bit of "rock climbing." Kind of hard to tell, but it was fairly difficult and we hiked up this. It might be a little corny, but I was so proud of us helping each other through a challenge together. At the top little man said it was easy and we should do more.

The Hubby took the photos so I can't take credit for them :)

The in between

This post is about all the other things we have been doing in between the holidays and birthdays.

My work is running a summer camp. It has been good for both of us and have been having lots of fun . . . no matter what his face looks like in this picture (the firefighters came one day).

Going to the zoo with our good friends.

Playing in the backyard with Auntie A.

"The Food Pit" as daddy now calls her. She eats a lot, even though she doesn't show it (what a lucky girl!) She is also learning some new signs-airplane in this picture.

Having bbq's with our friend who joined the army. We miss him, but are proud of him!
Treasure hunting aka geocaching with daddy.

Shooting rockets

Playing at the playground

Being cute

Being worn out with so much fun :)

5!?!

I know everyone says it, but I can't believe I have a five year old.

At the planetarium before Cars 2. We had the theater almost to ourselves (only three other people) which was good because the birthday boy enjoyed the movie-a little loudly at times.

Daddy likes birthday presents too.

This video is long so you are not obligated to watch it unless your name is Nana or Papa or you have some time to kill. I saw this idea on a blog a while ago and decided to adopt it. You just interview your child on their birthday and have them talk about things that are going on, their favorites, etc.

Birthday interview

Happy birthday my sweet boy!
Now if I can figure out how to get him to spit out his toothpaste . . . .

July 4 2011

We had a full Independence Day. Some of Brian's family was in town so we were doubly spoiled to have both families to celebrate with :)

These pictures are out of order, but I am too lazy to try and rearrange them :( Hopefully you can still enjoy them!

Baby girl was fascinated by the parade. I was worried about keeping her occupied, but it was wonderful. She was quite content.

We thought this guy was pretty cool on his double decker bike.
Here is our group with my brother and uncle at the front. He was back from Afghanistan and was able to spend some time with us.

Hee hee :) This is the first time I have ever seen a land fill float :)

These rock crawlers are pretty sweet. It has hard to tell, but the four jeeps are driving up each other's tires.

We got lots of candy from these guys since most of us were wearing Utah red.

My super sister made three cakes for all of the birthdays we celebrated that day.

Helping Aunt B blow out her candles. Look at those cute cheeks!

I conned my family members into running the 5k before the parade with me. My little man ran the children's race. My dad ran his first race on his 53rd birthday.

Waiting for fireworks.

Opening presents

Before the kids race. Doesn't he look excited!?

We switched and I finished the race with my boy.

The 4th is becoming one of my favorite holidays. We had a beautiful day. God bless America!

I shouldn't laugh . . .

but I just can't help myself :)

Oldie but goodie

I forgot that I wanted to post this video. You have to wait a little bit and listen to Daddy blowing raspberries before the good part, but it is definitely worth the wait! (The whole thing only lasts 40 seconds anyway.)

Family reunion

We attended a family reunion for my mother-in-law's side of the family in Tremonton. We drove up the night before and camped on Brian's uncle's property. I will admit that when Brian first asked me I was skeptical of sleeping on some property and his uncle was spraying for bugs. I pictured a very overgrown patch of land with bugs everywhere. How wrong I was; it was beautiful!! This piece of land belonged to Brian's grandparents and it was their dream to have it be able for their family to gather to. Jim and his wife have worked very hard and we had a wonderful time.

Check out this awesome playground (there are two other swing sets that I didn't take pictures of). Completely in the shade :)

They had just finished the sand pit that day. The kids very happily broke it in.

That stone is engraved with the parent's names and their ten children.

This is my mother in law giving out some plaques for family members who served in the military.

I requested we go see where my in-laws grew up. This is my mother in law's house, before the house with the property.

My father in law's house.

We also drove out to the farm the family owned. I never realized what a big operation it was. Over 300 acres with hired help and everything. It was a great experience being able to see the areas that shaped two of the people I love and admire most.
